Technical Advisor II – Child Protection & Systems Strengthening

About the role

The Technical Advisor II will serve as the subject‑matter expert for child protection, care and early childhood development systems in Malawi. Working closely with government, civil society, faith‑based and community partners, the Advisor will provide technical guidance to strengthen national systems that safeguard vulnerable children and support families.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical advice, guidance and leadership on child protection and early childhood development, ensuring alignment with evidence‑based standards and the country context.
• Assist government and partner institutions in developing, adapting and implementing policies, regulations, standards, SOPs, tools and guidance at national and sub‑national levels.
• Strengthen capacity of project teams and partners through coaching, training, supportive supervision and technical troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with the global technical counterpart, resource partners, MEAL team and implementation staff to ensure coordinated, mutually reinforcing technical approaches.
• Support evidence use and adaptive learning by working with the MEAL team to integrate technical findings into project improvements.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in child protection, care and early childhood development systems.
• Experience working with government, civil society, faith‑based and community stakeholders in a low‑resource setting.
• Proven ability to provide technical assistance, capacity development and coaching to diverse partners.
• Strong collaborative skills to work across technical areas and with monitoring, evaluation and learning functions.
