Project Officer – Family Strengthening & Advocacy (4 positions)

About the role

SOS Children’s Villages Malawi is seeking four Project Officers to support the implementation of a Standard Project that protects children at risk of losing parental care. The role focuses on the Family Strengthening and Advocacy components, working closely with the Project Manager and local communities across Mzuzu, Lilongwe, Blantyre and Ngabu.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, set up and oversee day‑to‑day activities for family strengthening and advocacy components.
• Ensure activity budgeting and timelines align with project documents.
• Integrate gender, disability and environmental considerations into all interventions.
• Identify, train and empower community facilitators and peer educators.
• Build capacity of families and communities through workshops on child rights and family empowerment.
• Support the formation and registration of community‑based organisations, including drafting constitutions, vision, mission and strategic plans.
• Organise training sessions on child rights and facilitate networking with community partners.

Required profile

• Experience coordinating community‑based projects in child protection or family development.
• Ability to work collaboratively with local stakeholders, NGOs and government partners.
• Strong organisational and planning skills to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
