Field Manager – External Relations

About the role

The Field Manager – External Relations supports GiveDirectly's government and external relations strategy at district and local levels, acting as the on‑the‑ground representative to authorities, community structures, NGOs and private sector actors.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with district officials, community leaders and NGOs.
• Identify partnership opportunities with public and private actors and lead district entry processes.
• Gather and synthesize qualitative and quantitative data to produce reports for decision‑making.
• Monitor political, economic and social environments, tracking trends and shocks that could affect programmes.
• Produce periodic briefs on emerging economic and political situations.
• Support local awareness‑raising activities and coordinate with field operations teams.
• Represent GiveDirectly at district‑level forums, coordination meetings and community events.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Professional fluency in English and Chichewa.
• 3–4 years of experience in stakeholder engagement, government relations or related partnership work.
• Strong analytical, research and reporting skills.
• Ability to identify local‑level risks and act appropriately.
• Independent, reliable work ethic with ability to manage competing priorities.
