Project Intern – Family Strengthening

About the role

SOS Children’s Villages Malawi is seeking two Project Interns to support the Family Strengthening project in the Chikwawa District. The four‑month internship (August‑November 2026) offers hands‑on experience in community‑based project delivery, data management, and beneficiary engagement within a child‑focused NGO environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing community‑based project activities.
• Organise and facilitate community trainings, meetings, awareness campaigns and dialogues addressing children’s needs.
• Conduct home visits to enrolled families, identify needs and provide mentorship on action plans.
• Support the development and implementation of Family Development Plans under the Project Officer’s guidance.
• Collect, enter and update data in program databases.
• Maintain project records and documentation.
• Prepare activity reports on progress of various interventions.
• Follow the code of conduct, child safeguarding policy and other organisational policies.
• Undertake any additional tasks assigned by the Field Officer.

Required profile

• Degree in Community Development, Development Studies, Social Science, Social Work, Agriculture or a related field (Advanced Diploma may be considered).
• Strong communication and reporting abilities.
• Computer literacy.
• Team‑oriented attitude.
• Residence in Ngabu, Chikwawa district.

Required skills

• Computer literacy (basic office software and data entry).
