Plant Operator

About the role

The Plant Operator ensures safe, continuous production, storage and distribution of medical oxygen for health facilities in Neno District. Working closely with biomedical teams, the role maintains plant performance and supports equipment reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the PSA oxygen plant following SOPs, manufacturer guidelines and safety standards.
• Monitor plant parameters such as oxygen purity, pressure, compressor performance and system alarms.
• Conduct routine inspections of compressors, manifolds, dryers and related equipment to prevent failures.
• Record daily production data, equipment logs and maintenance activities using UPKEEP and CommCare.
• Manage cylinder inventory, filling schedules and distribution to health facilities and neighboring districts.
• Support troubleshooting of medical equipment, oxygen piping and plant systems.
• Assist in implementing preventive maintenance schedules for plant and biomedical equipment.
• Escalate equipment malfunctions and safety concerns promptly.

Required profile

• Highly safety‑conscious individual with technical aptitude for plant operations.
• Ability to work in a healthcare environment where uninterrupted oxygen supply is critical.
• Experience following SOPs, regulatory requirements and manufacturer guidelines.
• Strong record‑keeping and communication skills to coordinate with biomedical staff.
