Nursing Practice & Quality Lead

About the role

The Nursing Practice & Quality Lead is a senior member of the Clinical Leadership Team responsible for strengthening nursing practice, patient safety and quality of care across Neno District. Working closely with nurses, midwives, Ministry of Health officials and partner organisations, the Lead will embed a culture of quality and safety aligned with PIH’s mission and national health policies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership on nursing and midwifery practice within the clinical leadership team.
• Identify gaps in clinical care, propose evidence‑based solutions and advise district and national stakeholders.
• Coordinate nursing and midwifery activities across community, primary and secondary care levels.
• Serve as liaison with OnePIH nursing network, regulatory bodies and external partners.
• Oversee grant‑supported activities, ensure alignment with institutional priorities and support partnership engagement.

Required profile

• Senior nursing professional with extensive experience in clinical leadership and quality improvement.
• Proven ability to work with ministries, NGOs and multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of Malawi’s national health policies and nursing regulations.
