Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist – Full Time (Lilongwe, Malawi)

About the role

UNICEF Malawi is looking for a Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist to provide technical leadership and support the country office’s results‑based management. The specialist will enhance the design and implementation of the monitoring and evaluation framework, ensure high‑quality data collection and analysis, and contribute to evidence‑based decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and strengthening of the country programme M&E framework in line with UNICEF and national standards.
• Ensure robust monitoring systems are in place for timely data collection, validation, and analysis across programme sectors.
• Analyse data and prepare high‑quality corporate and donor reports to inform programme decisions.
• Plan, commission and utilise evaluations to improve programme performance and learning.
• Collaborate with government agencies and partners to strengthen national data and monitoring systems.
• Build capacity of staff and partners in M&E methods, data use and results‑based management.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree and proven experience in monitoring and evaluation within development or humanitarian contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement M&E frameworks and monitoring systems.
• Strong analytical skills for data validation, analysis and reporting.
• Experience working with government bodies, donors and implementing partners.
• Capacity‑building experience to support staff and partners.
