Medical Assistant – Clinical & Administrative Support

About the role

The Medical Assistant will support clinicians in Kasese by delivering both clinical and administrative services. The role involves direct patient care, maintaining accurate records and ensuring the smooth operation of the health facility.

Key responsibilities

• Order and interpret common laboratory tests, diagnose conditions and prescribe treatment within the scope of practice.
• Apply rational use of antibiotics and provide emergency and trauma care, including pre‑referral treatment for critically ill patients.
• Monitor and report adverse drug reactions.
• Perform minor surgical and medical procedures.
• Maintain and update patient medical records in compliance with privacy regulations.
• Educate patients on health topics and treatment plans.
• Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
• Assist with routine office tasks to ensure efficient clinic operations.

Required profile

• Certificate in Clinical Medicine (minimum).
• Registered with the Medical Council of Malawi.
• At least two years of relevant work experience.
