Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor / Professor – Testing & Measurement

About the role

The University of Malawi is seeking qualified academics for a single opening in the Department of Education Foundations. The position can be filled at Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor or Professor level, focusing on Testing and Measurement.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses covering Item Response Theory, Classical Theory of Measurement, Multi‑Dimensional Scaling, Fundamentals of Test Construction and Educational Statistics.
• Supervise postgraduate research projects in testing, measurement and evaluation.
• Guide students during teaching practice placements.
• Conduct scholarly research, provide consultancy services and engage in outreach activities.

Required profile

• For Lecturer level: Master of Education in Testing and Measurement and a Bachelor of Education with credit or distinction from a university recognised by the National Council of Higher Education.
• For senior academic levels: documented evidence of peer‑reviewed journal publications (minimum 3 for Senior Lecturer, 5 for Associate Professor, 8 for Professor).

Required skills

• Proficiency in Item Response Theory.
• Knowledge of Classical Theory of Measurement.
• Experience with Multi‑Dimensional Scaling.
• Ability to design and construct educational tests.
• Competence in Educational Statistics.
