Funded Traineeship in Political, Press & Information – EU Delegation Malawi

About the role

We are looking for a motivated young graduate to join the Political, Press & Information Section of the EU Delegation in Malawi for a funded traineeship of up to six months, starting tentatively on 1 October 2026. The role offers a hands‑on experience of the EU’s diplomatic work and public diplomacy in Malawi.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth research on current affairs, elections, government institutions, human‑rights and civil‑society actors in Malawi.
• Assist in analysing issues that affect the EU’s position and draft reports, fact sheets and articles.
• Prepare communication materials, including content for social‑media channels.
• Support EU public‑diplomacy activities such as events and interactions with Malawian authorities, CSOs and the general public, under supervision.
• Provide general and administrative assistance to the PPI Section.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in political science, diplomacy, international relations, peace and conflict studies or a related field.
• Strong understanding of Malawi’s politics, economics and governance.
• Less than one year of professional experience after graduation and no more than six weeks of prior experience in EU institutions.
• Fluency in English and excellent analytical and drafting abilities.
• Hands‑on, proactive attitude, openness to learning and willingness to contribute ideas.
• Current residence in Malawi.
