Reporter – Climate‑Friendly Travel

About the role

The Reporter will research, write and publish news stories on climate‑friendly travel initiatives, policies and developments for both digital and traditional media channels. This full‑time, on‑site position is based in Lilongwe and works closely with the communications and program teams to ensure coverage aligns with organisational priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Research and gather information on climate‑friendly travel initiatives, policies and developments.
• Conduct interviews with stakeholders and attend events, briefings and conferences.
• Verify facts and produce clear, accurate news stories and feature articles.
• Create multimedia content, including basic photography, audio recordings and video footage.
• Collaborate with communications and program teams to maintain editorial standards and meet deadlines.
• Monitor local and global sources to identify story opportunities.
• Present complex climate and sustainability topics in an accessible manner.

Required profile

• Strong reporting, interviewing and fact‑checking abilities.
• Excellent news writing skills for clear and engaging storytelling.
• Effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to present complex climate and sustainability topics in an accessible way.
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Willingness and ability to work on‑site in Lilongwe.
• Capacity to manage multiple assignments and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong ethical judgment and commitment to inclusive storytelling.
