Funded Traineeship for Young Graduates – EU Delegation to Malawi

About the role

This is a funded traineeship of up to six months within the Political, Press & Information Section of the EU Delegation to Malawi, starting tentatively on 1 October 2026. It offers recent graduates the chance to work on research, analysis, drafting and communication tasks while supporting EU public diplomacy in Malawi.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth research on current affairs, elections, government institutions, human‑rights and civil‑society issues in Malawi.
• Analyse developments that affect the EU’s position and draft reports, fact sheets and articles.
• Prepare communication materials, including content for social‑media channels.
• Assist EU public‑diplomacy activities through events, social media and interactions with Malawian authorities, institutions, CSOs and the public, under supervision.
• Provide general and administrative support to the Political, Press & Information Section.

Required profile

• Current residence in Malawi.
• Bachelor’s degree in political science, diplomacy, international relations, peace and conflict studies or a related field.
• Good understanding of Malawi’s politics, economics, governance and international cooperation.
• Less than one year of professional experience after graduation and no more than six weeks in EU institutions.
• Fluency in English.
• Excellent analytical and drafting abilities.
• Hands‑on, proactive attitude with openness to learning and contributing ideas.
