Internship Positions - Nations Publications Limited (Mzuzu, Lilongwe, Blantyre)

About the role

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) at the University of Malawi has a memorandum of understanding with Nations Publications Limited (NPL), under which NPL offers internships to SHSS students. The School is inviting applications for internship positions at NPL offices in Mzuzu (1), Lilongwe (2) and Blantyre (1). Interns work for two months under experienced print media journalists and editors.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with research and the timely gathering of news data
• Assist with drafting news articles for print and online
• Assist with editing and proofreading newsletters, press releases and website articles
• Schedule interviews and collate written and electronic data
• Document and archive news articles
• Assist in covering public events
• Carry out any other duties assigned from time to time

Required profile

• Third-year student in any programme of study under SHSS
• Overall GPA of 3.0 or above
• Willingness to work on a voluntary basis and to cover own transport costs

Required skills

• Demonstrated excellent writing and analytical abilities
• Fluency in English and other local languages
• Good interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
• Ability to work in a busy environment
