Funded Traineeship in Political, Press & Information at EU Delegation (Malawi)

About the role

The EU Delegation to Malawi offers a funded traineeship of up to six months, starting tentatively on 1 October 2026. The position is placed in the Political, Press & Information Section and is designed for recent graduates eager to gain hands‑on experience in diplomacy, research, and public communication.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct in‑depth research on current affairs, elections, government institutions, human‑rights bodies, and civil‑society actors in Malawi.
• Analyse findings and draft reports, fact sheets, and articles that inform the EU’s position.
• Prepare communication materials, including content for social‑media channels.
• Support EU public‑diplomacy activities through events, media outreach, and interactions with Malawian authorities and NGOs.
• Assist with general and administrative tasks within the PPI Section.

Required profile

• Current residence in Malawi.
• Bachelor’s degree in political science, international relations, diplomacy, peace and conflict studies, or a related field.
• Less than one year of professional experience after graduation and no more than six weeks of prior EU‑institution experience.
• Fluency in English and strong analytical and drafting abilities.
• Pro‑active, hands‑on attitude with eagerness to learn and contribute ideas.
