Footballer (Contract) – On-site in Blantyre

About the role

The Vital Rights Foundation is seeking a dedicated footballer on a contract basis to join its on‑site sports program in Blantyre. You will train, compete, and support community‑focused sport initiatives that align with the organisation’s health‑equity mission.

Key responsibilities

• Attend regular training sessions, practice drills and fitness routines.
• Participate in scheduled competitive and friendly matches, following coaching instructions.
• Demonstrate fair play, respect for teammates, opponents and officials.
• Engage in community outreach such as sports clinics or events that promote youth development and inclusion.

Required profile

• Strong technical football abilities including ball control, passing, shooting, positioning and tactical awareness.
• Proven physical fitness, stamina and agility with the ability to follow structured training programs.
• Teamwork and communication skills for effective collaboration with coaches, teammates and support staff.
• Commitment to sportsmanship, discipline, punctuality and adherence to team and organisational values.
• Experience playing organised football at club, school, academy or community level; competitive match experience is a plus.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Blantyre and maintain reliable availability for training, matches and community events.
• Basic understanding of how sport can contribute to community development and youth empowerment; interest in VRF’s mission is beneficial.
• First aid awareness and injury‑prevention knowledge, with readiness to follow medical or fitness guidance.
