Deputy Country Director – Operations

About the role

GiveDirectly Malawi is scaling its cash transfer programme and needs a senior leader to own all back‑office functions. As Deputy Country Director – Operations you will be responsible for building and managing procurement, logistics, HR and administrative systems that support rapid growth across multiple districts.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and expand the operations team, including procurement, field office management and logistics.
• Design and implement standard operating procedures, roles and responsibilities for high‑performance delivery.
• Develop cost‑effective systems and processes to support a larger programme footprint.
• Oversee compliance, supply‑chain management and administrative functions.
• Travel regularly to field offices and programme sites within Malawi and occasional international retreats.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in operations, procurement, supply‑chain or compliance within a fast‑growing organisation.
• Strong leadership and team‑building skills, with ability to mentor staff across multiple locations.
• Comfortable making decisions in a non‑hierarchical, fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
