Assistant Financial Accountant

About the role

Old Mutual is looking for an Assistant Financial Accountant to perform professional accounting work, including the compilation, consolidation and analysis of financial data. The role requires an understanding of accounting fundamentals and principles and experience in bookkeeping.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ledgers, journal entries, trial balances and financial statements, and support the month-end close and annual budgeting and planning.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, tax reporting packs and supporting line-of-business and quarterly regulatory reports.
• Support the group reporting process and assist external auditors during the annual audit.
• Perform balance sheet substantiation, resolve general ledger and debtor reconciliations, and assist with fixed assets management.
• Work within established systems to deliver financial control outcomes, and contribute to financial policies, guidelines and protocols.
• Identify non-compliance with policies and procedures and escalate issues appropriately.
• Collate and analyse data, manage basic data management systems, and prepare complex documents and reports.
• Answer queries from customers and suppliers on complex processes and policies, and develop your own capabilities through training and professional accreditation.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Accountancy in Accounting.
• Experience in bookkeeping and accounting fundamentals.
