Anesthesiologist – Pediatric Anesthesia (Blantyre, Malawi)

About the role

CURE Children’s Hospital Malawi is seeking a qualified Anesthesiologist to join its medical team. The role involves delivering safe anesthesia care for surgical patients and supporting the hospital’s critical care services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia for all surgical cases, selecting the most appropriate technique (general, regional, MAC, local or combination).
• Complete and document pre‑operative anesthesia evaluations and order necessary investigations.
• Oversee nurse anesthetists and anesthetic officers, ensuring adherence to protocols.
• Supervise the High Dependency Unit (HDU) / Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and manage critically ill patients on the ward.
• Review all code events in the hospital and lead debrief sessions.

Required profile

• Medical degree with full licensure to practice anesthesia.
• Experience in anesthesia practice; senior‑level expertise preferred.
• Sub‑specialty training or expertise in pediatric anesthesia is highly desirable.
• Commitment to the hospital’s mission of holistic care for children and families.
