Academic Support Services Officer (Undergraduate & Postgraduate)

About the role

The University of Malawi is seeking an Academic Support Services Officer to manage and support both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The role involves coordinating timetables, exam administration, student services and academic events to ensure smooth operation of the faculty.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and manage operations of new and existing degree programmes.
• Prepare timetables, class schedules and book facilities.
• Provide support for exam administration, including proofreading scripts.
• Organise and manage academic events and record minutes of meetings.
• Handle student matters such as claims, withdrawals and disciplinary hearings.
• Assist in programme accreditation preparations.
• Support academics by answering student queries and locating information.
• Facilitate academic evaluation processes and maintain departmental websites and databases.
• Verify and process time records for students and part‑time staff.
• Compile academic data, advise prospective students and prepare transcripts and certifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in a comparable academic setting.
