Academic Support Services Officer (Postgraduate)

About the role

The University of Malawi is seeking an Academic Support Services Officer to manage and enhance the administration of its postgraduate programmes. This internal position will support academic staff, students, and departmental operations across a range of administrative functions.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and manage operations of new and existing degree programmes, including timetabling and facility booking.
• Provide administrative support for examinations, such as proofreading scripts and organising exam logistics.
• Organise academic events, record meeting minutes, and manage student matters including claims, withdrawals and disciplinary hearings.
• Assist with programme accreditation preparations and respond to student enquiries.
• Maintain and update departmental websites and databases, and process time records for students and part‑time staff.
• Compile academic data, advise prospective students, and prepare transcripts and certifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
• Minimum of six years relevant work experience in a comparable academic or administrative setting.
