Senior Project Officer – MEAL (Field)

About the role

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is seeking a Senior Project Officer to lead Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) activities for a multi‑county child development, care and protection project in Malawi. The role will ensure high‑quality data collection, analysis and learning to improve outcomes for vulnerable children.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and lead implementation of all MEAL activities in line with CRS standards, donor requirements and industry best practices.
• Facilitate learning throughout the project cycle, coordinating reflection and learning activities with partners.
• Lead the rollout of the project’s Feedback and Response Mechanism (FRM) and ensure timely response to community feedback.
• Collect, validate, analyse and report project data, working with government counterparts to improve data quality and use.
• Coordinate national and sub‑national consultations to identify MEAL system strengths, gaps and capacity‑strengthening opportunities.
• Provide technical assistance and mentoring to government MEAL staff and local partners.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in MEAL within humanitarian or development programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex data systems and produce actionable insights.
• Strong coordination and relationship‑management skills with government and implementing partners.
• Experience working on child protection, early childhood development or related sectors is preferred.
