BSS Engineer – Network Operations (Lilongwe)

About the role

Airtel Malawi is looking for a proactive BSS Engineer to lead network operations and maintenance for its Lilongwe region. You will ensure high network availability, collaborate with partners, and drive continuous improvement across radio and transmission assets.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain radio network availability above 99.8% and manage spare parts inventory.
• Govern partner performance to meet operational targets and KPI commitments.
• Analyze RNA reports, create action plans, and resolve under‑performing sites on a weekly basis.
• Conduct active and passive infrastructure audits, focusing on Platinum and Gold sites.
• Lead weekly War Room meetings, address customer complaints within 48 hours (urban) or 96 hours (rural), and ensure compliance with SOP checklists.
• Maintain accurate databases for radio and transmission assets, implement NMS visibility, and audit external alarm extensions.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to drive process awareness and quality governance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Telecommunications Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of hands‑on experience in a telecommunications environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships.
• Calm under pressure, self‑motivated, and comfortable working in a team.
