Program Manager II – Health, Nutrition & Social Services

About the role

The Program Manager II/Unit Manager will lead the Health, Nutrition and Social Services unit of CRS Malawi, ensuring the operationalization of the Health Program Area. Reporting to the Head of Programs, the role oversees project managers, provides technical guidance, and guarantees equitable access to health services for the poorest and most vulnerable.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise health unit staff and project managers, ensuring effective and efficient implementation of activities.
• Provide newly hired PMs with support on CRS policies, procedures and program standards.
• Oversee preparation of high‑quality progress, program and donor reports.
• Monitor budgets, procurement and monthly spending across all health projects.
• Plan department leave coverage and coordinate field travel for staff.
• Mentor and coach staff, developing performance and development plans.
• Organise quarterly technical working groups with partners and plan annual SRFMP visits.
• Contribute to proposal design, drafting and editing, ensuring alignment with best practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing health, nutrition or social services programs in a humanitarian or development context.
• Strong supervisory and team‑leadership abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work collaboratively with partners, technical advisors and donors.
