Malawi Field Operations Impact Lead

About the role

One Acre Fund is looking for a dynamic professional to lead its Impact team in Malawi. The Impact Lead will co‑define the country’s strategy, oversee research and development trials, and scale market‑access buy‑backs to boost smallholder farmer resilience.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the headquarters Impact team (approximately 25% of time), supervising 3‑4 direct reports, conducting weekly check‑ins, and delivering performance reviews and development plans.
• Continuously refine the Impact team’s structure, roles and hiring plan to align with evolving program priorities.
• Define and monitor the annual Impact budget, ensuring grant‑funded projects are correctly allocated and budget‑vs‑actuals are kept low.
• Develop and execute the country impact strategy together with the Field Operations Partners, Monitoring‑Evaluation‑Learning Lead and Country Director, translating it into measurable goals and work plans.
• Collaborate with Global Impact to integrate organization‑wide priorities, focusing resources on high‑impact activities and avoiding over‑extension.
• Lead the “Excellent Extension” component of the core program, driving improvements in farmer outreach and outcomes.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of strategic and operational experience in agriculture, development, or a related sector.
• Proven leadership experience managing teams and budgets.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to translate strategy into actionable plans.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
