Food & Beverage Manager

About the role

The Food & Beverage Manager will lead all food and beverage operations at Protea Hotel by Marriott Lilongwe, overseeing culinary, restaurant, bar and room‑service areas. The role is responsible for delivering exceptional guest experiences, maintaining high employee engagement, and achieving financial targets while ensuring compliance with local food‑and‑beverage regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Direct daily operations of kitchen, restaurant, bar and room‑service outlets.
• Develop, monitor and control budgets, maintaining a positive cost‑management index.
• Lead, coach and schedule the Food & Beverage team, fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable food‑and‑beverage laws and health regulations.
• Drive guest service standards, responding promptly to guest concerns.
• Prepare and implement business plans for the Food & Beverage department.
• Track employee performance and productivity, providing feedback and development opportunities.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least four years of experience in food & beverage, culinary or related fields, or an associate degree in Food Service Management, Hotel & Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related discipline with at least two years of relevant experience.
• Proven ability to manage budgets and lead a diverse team.
• Strong understanding of hospitality operations and guest service culture.
