Project Officer – MEAL & Advocacy (Power Nutrition Project)

About the role
Save the Children is looking for a dynamic Project Officer to lead Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) and advocacy activities for the Power of Nutrition Project in Malawi. The role will support the five‑year programme aimed at reducing chronic malnutrition and improving early childhood development in Ntcheu and Balaka districts.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for MEAL and advocacy, ensuring high‑quality data collection, analysis and reporting.
- Design, implement and maintain project monitoring systems and databases.
- Generate evidence, conduct research, and facilitate learning events to inform programme decisions.
- Develop and oversee advocacy initiatives, community accountability mechanisms and knowledge‑management processes.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager, District Coordinators and Regional MEAL team to ensure timely donor reporting and cross‑learning.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Demography, Social Sciences or a related field.
- Minimum three years of experience in MEAL roles.
- Strong understanding of gender and equity analyses.
- Proven ability to supervise, coach and mentor staff.
- Excellent communication, report writing and interpersonal skills.
Required skills
- Database management using MS Access and Excel.
- Survey processing with CSPro.
- Statistical analysis using STATA or SPSS.
- Development of M&E plans, results frameworks and research protocols.
- Documentation, knowledge‑management systems and facilitation of learning events.
