Project Officer – Child Protection & Early Childhood Development

About the role

Catholic Relief Services is preparing to launch a multi‑county child development, care, and protection project in Malawi. The Project Officer will support implementation in targeted districts, working closely with government counterparts, local partners, community structures, and faith‑based networks to strengthen child protection systems and early childhood development services.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and support all assigned project activities according to the workplan, ensuring compliance with CRS quality standards and donor requirements.
• Monitor progress, identify challenges or gaps, and report findings to inform timely adjustments.
• Assist partners with data collection, analysis, and reporting, and contribute to project evaluation activities.
• Gather information on partner capacity needs and support technical assistance and capacity‑building initiatives.
• Prepare project documentation, case studies, and reports on promising practices.

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in project support, preferably in an NGO setting.
• Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data.
• Background in child protection or related humanitarian fields.
• Fluency in English and Chichewa.
• Willingness to travel up to 25 % of the time.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
