Finance and Operations Manager

About the role

The Finance and Operations Manager will lead the Finance and Administration Department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and efficient day‑to‑day operations for Pact’s programmes across Malawi.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management accounts.
• Oversee the general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries and month‑end/year‑end closing processes.
• Coordinate payroll input with HR, manage payroll and benefits administration, and process salary payments through the banking system.
• Ensure financial systems comply with US Government rules, policies and procedures.
• Monitor cash flow, liquidity and treasury activities, including fund transfers.
• Manage tax compliance (VAT, PAYE, WHT, corporate tax) and coordinate tax year‑end processes.
• Lead internal and external audits and maintain statutory compliance.
• Supervise two Finance Officers and the Grants Officer, fostering a high‑performing team.

Required profile

• Proven experience overseeing finance and administration functions in a nonprofit or development context.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise finance staff and coordinate cross‑functional teams.
• Familiarity with US Government financial regulations and donor reporting requirements.
• Strong understanding of tax legislation and audit processes.
