WASH Technical Manager

About the role

A Christian humanitarian organization with 75 years of experience and staff in nearly 100 countries is hiring a WASH Technical Manager on a local fixed-term basis. The role provides overall technical leadership for the WASH sector at the national office, aligning the technical approach with regional and global strategies and guiding field staff on quality programme implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and adaptation of the WASH sector within the Integrated Health and WASH Technical Programme, advise on approved project models and track implementation quality against standards, government policies and TP/DIP plans
• Assess capacity gaps and build a capacity-building plan with regional assistance, and seek opportunities for implementation research
• Map donors, understand their technical expectations, prepare the office for grant bids and lead proposal design and development
• Maintain regular engagement with technical sector stakeholders, stay aware of emergencies and ensure sector readiness
• Work with the MEAL function on quality programming, monitoring, evaluation, reporting and learning, and promote research, documentation and scaling of best practices
• Manage donor and organizational resources, act on audit, peer review and evaluation findings, develop and implement a risk register and monitor audit recommendations
• Raise local resources, develop WASH grant proposals, track accountability to grants and support RAM in responding to requests for applications from bilateral and multilateral sources
• Build and maintain a national stakeholder register, network with national WASH stakeholders and represent the office at sector forums and meetings
• Recruit, retain and develop staff with the P&C unit, assess competencies, run trainings, workshops and OJT, supervise and coach technical staff
