Technology Risk Associate, Assurance

About the role

Join EY as a Technology Risk Associate in Assurance, supporting clients in Malawi. This early‑career role blends finance, technology, audit and risk, offering hands‑on experience with IT audit, technology controls and business processes across diverse industries.

Key responsibilities

• Use accounting, finance, audit and business process knowledge to assess risks in financial reporting and related applications.
• Perform control walkthroughs, evidence reviews and test the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls and technology risk engagements.
• Support testing of IT application controls, automated controls, interfaces, IPE/key reports and configurable controls within enterprise systems such as SAP.
• Document process understanding, control narratives, test procedures, results, exceptions and remediation follow‑ups.
• Identify control gaps, deficiencies and improvement opportunities and communicate findings to senior team members.
• Engage with client contacts, internal teams, IT teams and business owners to obtain evidence and clarify control operation.
• Prepare accurate workpapers, trackers, status updates and supporting documentation within agreed timelines.
• Execute tasks with growing independence, perform self‑review, seek guidance when needed and contribute to high‑quality engagement delivery.
• Stay informed on business, accounting, audit, technology and regulatory developments relevant to IT risk and controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Accounting, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Audit, Risk Management or a related field.
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and professional curiosity.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with engagement teams and client stakeholders.
• Comfortable documenting work clearly and accurately.
• Quick learner of new systems and ability to manage tasks within timelines.
