Senior Technical Manager – District Oversight (Malawi)

About the role

The Senior Technical Manager will act as the primary bridge between national project leadership and district implementation teams, ensuring coordinated planning, performance management, quality assurance, and accountability across all supported districts in Malawi.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in designing, coordinating and supervising integrated MNCH, nutrition and HIV service approaches.
• Supervise District Managers to ensure effective MNCH program implementation and alignment with national policies.
• Translate project strategies into district‑level operational plans and monitor performance against targets.
• Lead routine supportive supervision visits, field monitoring and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Review district work plans, budgets and reports for accuracy and compliance.
• Identify capacity gaps, develop mentoring and coaching plans, and facilitate peer‑learning forums.
• Represent the project in national and sub‑national coordination forums and strengthen collaboration with District Health Offices, the Ministry of Health and implementing partners.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in managing MNCH, nutrition or HIV health programmes.
• Proven ability to lead and supervise district‑level teams.
• Strong understanding of Ministry of Health standards and national health policies.
• Experience in performance monitoring, budgeting and quality‑improvement processes.
