About the role
We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will apply US or UK coding standards to complex patient records, ensuring accurate reimbursement and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Review inpatient and outpatient medical records, including operative reports and discharge summaries.
- Assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes (ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, OPCS-4, SNOMED CT).
- Ensure coding complies with federal, state, NHS, and payer guidelines.
- Identify documentation gaps and query clinicians for clarification.
- Correct coding errors, resolve claim denials, and support revenue cycle management.
- Maintain data integrity and participate in internal audits.
- Stay current with coding guideline updates and compliance regulations.
Required profile
- 3‑5 years of hospital coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
- Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (e.g., CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or equivalent UK certification.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
- Experience with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web, or SystmOne.
- Excellent attention to detail and pattern‑recognition skills.
- Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+) and high‑speed internet connection.
- Verified backup power supply (UPS or generator) and a quiet, HIPAA/GDPR‑compliant workspace.
