Programme Director – Child Protection & Development

About the role

SOS Children’s Villages Malawi is seeking an experienced Programme Director to lead its Ngabu programme. The role will oversee the design, implementation and monitoring of child protection and community development activities across the Chikwawa district.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute programme plans in line with SOS policies, national strategies and donor requirements.
• Coordinate project activities, ensuring quality, cost‑efficiency and compliance with organisational standards.
• Supervise and mentor programme staff, providing guidance and performance support.
• Represent SOS in all stakeholder engagements, including local authorities, partners and community groups.
• Identify and cultivate partnership opportunities in collaboration with the National Office.
• Participate in national management meetings and contribute to strategic planning.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing large‑scale development or child protection programmes in an NGO setting.
• Strong leadership and team‑management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Ability to work under funding‑driven timelines and deliver results.
