Program Manager – Healthcare Infrastructure (Malawi)

About the role

The Program Manager is a senior member of the Operations Department responsible for leading the implementation of the Non‑Negotiables Program Phase 2 (NNP2) across Partners In Health‑supported health facilities in Malawi. This full‑time, onsite role provides strategic, technical and operational leadership to improve the quality, safety and sustainability of healthcare infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute annual implementation plans for large infrastructure projects, quality checklists, capital needs registers and CMMS deployment.
• Lead planning, execution, monitoring and close‑out of projects, ensuring compliance with timelines, budgets, donor requirements and safety standards.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams, including electrical and WASH engineers, contractors and district health officials.
• Oversee risk management, procurement activities, contractor performance and budget utilization.
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, drawings, inspection records and handover files.
• Strengthen infrastructure data systems, asset registers and preventive maintenance processes.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in managing complex infrastructure or construction programmes, preferably in the health sector.
• Proven ability to work with government ministries, donors and multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Relevant tertiary education in engineering, construction management or a related field.
