Operations Manager

About the role

The Operations Manager will ensure smooth and efficient delivery of programmes for an international NGO dedicated to strengthening education systems in developing nations. Reporting to the country management team, the role coordinates closely with global finance and HR directors to align local operations with global standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide organisational leadership, mentoring and capacity development for direct reports.
• Represent the organisation with external stakeholders and partners.
• Oversee daily operational functions, ensuring effective implementation of projects and programmes.
• Manage budgets, resources and procurement processes to support operational activities.
• Develop and implement operational policies, procedures and systems.
• Maintain HR management systems, ensuring compliance with global standards and local law.
• Coordinate with programme managers and field staff for aligned service delivery.
• Supervise support staff, providing guidance and development opportunities.
• Oversee financial management, reporting, auditing and finance policy compliance.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements, legal regulations and organisational standards.
• Manage procurement, logistics and administrative functions, including contracts with suppliers.
• Prepare regular operational reports for senior management and stakeholders.
• Identify operational risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Foster partnerships with local communities, government agencies and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, International Development or related field.
• Master's degree in Business Management, Accounting, Public Administration, HR Management or related field (preferred).
• 5+ years of management experience within an international development organisation.
