Nutanix Engineer / Networking IT Support Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Nutanix Engineer / Networking IT Support Engineer to provide break‑and‑fix services for enterprise infrastructure in Malawi. This freelance, on‑call position involves both onsite and remote troubleshooting, ensuring rapid resolution of hardware, network and virtualization incidents while delivering professional customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver onsite and remote break‑and‑fix support for networking and infrastructure issues.
• Deploy, configure and manage Nutanix HCI environments (AOS, AHV, Prism).
• Perform system upgrades, patching and lifecycle management.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, virtualization and network problems.
• Resolve network connectivity issues involving TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP and related technologies.
• Implement and support backup and disaster‑recovery solutions.
• Respond to critical incidents within agreed response times.
• Collaborate with global and regional teams on infrastructure and cloud projects.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, incident reports and service records.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in infrastructure, virtualization, networking or IT support engineering.
• Valid CCNA certification with at least a 90 % pass score on the induction assessment.
• Fluent English communication skills, both spoken and written.
• Ability to work independently in customer‑facing environments.
• Professional demeanor and strong customer‑service orientation.

Required skills

• Nutanix ecosystem (AOS, AHV, Prism).
• VMware and/or Hyper‑V environments.
• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching.
• Backup and disaster‑recovery solutions.
• Scripting with PowerShell and/or Python.
• CCNA certification.
