Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist – Fixed Term (Lilongwe)

About the role

UNICEF Malawi is seeking a dynamic Monitoring & Evaluation Specialist to provide technical leadership for results‑based management. Reporting to the Chief of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, you will strengthen the design, implementation and analysis of the country programme’s M&E framework.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and refine monitoring and evaluation plans aligned with UNICEF and national standards.
• Ensure robust data collection, validation and analysis across programme sectors.
• Produce high‑quality corporate and donor reports that support evidence‑based decision‑making.
• Plan, commission and use evaluations to improve programme performance and learning.
• Collaborate with government and partners to strengthen national data and monitoring systems.
• Build capacity of staff and partners in M&E methods and data use.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in social sciences, statistics, public health, international development or related field.
• Proven experience in monitoring, evaluation and results‑based management, preferably in an international development context.
• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work effectively with government agencies, NGOs and UNICEF teams.
