Monitoring & Evaluation Officer

About the role

The Monitoring & Evaluation Officer will support Spark Microgrants’ impact agenda across Malawi by ensuring high‑quality data collection, analysis, and learning. Reporting to the M&E Manager, the officer drives evidence‑based decision‑making for both Spark and its implementing partners.

Key responsibilities

• Apply statistically sound methods to analyse monitoring, evaluation and learning data, producing actionable insights for programme teams.
• Collaborate with partners to develop and monitor comprehensive M&E plans, ensuring compliance with indicators and reporting schedules.
• Coordinate timely collection, validation and management of routine monitoring data from community facilitators, project teams and contracted enumerators.
• Build capacity of partner trainers and M&E staff in data collection, analysis, visualisation and evidence‑based planning.
• Design and manage internal evaluations, including survey instrument development, sampling, enumerator training, field supervision, data quality assurance and report writing.

Required profile

• University degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Studies or a related field.
• Proven experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning within development or impact‑focused programmes.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to translate data into clear recommendations.
• Excellent communication skills for capacity‑building and stakeholder engagement.
