Mission Home Custodian

About the role

The Mission Home Custodian provides custodial services for Church facilities in Lilongwe, ensuring a clean, safe, and reverent environment for worship, teaching, and community activities. This part‑time position supports missionaries and mission leaders by maintaining the home and meeting spaces.

Key responsibilities

• Perform journey‑level custodial duties, including cleaning, vacuuming, buffering, and carpet cleaning.
• Maintain a neat and hygienic home environment: make beds, do laundry, and arrange accommodations for missionaries and mission leaders.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as buffers, carpet cleaners, and vacuums safely.
• Replace draperies, chandeliers, lights, and set up meeting rooms as requested.
• Report maintenance issues to the facilities management team and maintain good public relations.
• Use cleaning agents and chemicals with appropriate safety gear (gloves, masks).
• Work unsupervised and follow directions from mission leaders and the facilities manager.
• Perform basic computer tasks and prioritize cleaning tasks.

Required profile

• Current and valid temple recommend (or eligibility to hold one).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb, push carts, bend, crawl, and work on stairs.
• Proficient in English for verbal and written communication.
• Willingness to complete safety and equipment‑usage training.
• Physically fit to work with cleaning equipment and at heights.
