MEAL Officer – Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning

About the role

We are looking for a Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Officer to join Save the Children’s Balaka District project. The officer will support tracking of project performance, ensure data quality, and promote learning to improve outcomes for beneficiaries.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor project activities and outputs against work plans and develop indicators, tools and systems for progress measurement.
• Conduct baseline, midline and end‑line assessments, evaluate impact and produce analytical reports.
• Establish and manage feedback and complaint mechanisms, ensuring transparency and accountability to beneficiaries.
• Analyse data, document lessons learned and share findings to support evidence‑based decision‑making.
• Maintain data quality, confidentiality and storage; prepare dashboards, reports and donor submissions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Development Studies, Economics or related field.
• Minimum four years of experience in a MEAL role within an NGO or development project.
• Strong analytical and data interpretation abilities.
• Excellent reporting and communication skills.
