Lead – Roaming and Interconnect

About the role

The Lead – Roaming and Interconnect will shape and execute Airtel Malawi’s roaming and interconnect strategy, negotiate agreements with local and international operators, and expand the carrier’s global network footprint. This role combines strategic planning, product development, and market intelligence to drive revenue growth and enhance customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement roaming and interconnect strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Negotiate, manage, and monitor roaming and interconnect agreements with partners worldwide.
• Identify and onboard new roaming partners to broaden network reach.
• Design, launch, and optimise prepaid and postpaid roaming and international calling products, including pricing models, bundles, and promotions.
• Conduct market research, business case development, and profitability analysis for new initiatives.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Finance, Technology, and Customer Experience teams to ensure successful product launches and continuous improvement.
• Monitor competitor activity, market trends, and emerging opportunities to inform strategic decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry.
• Strong understanding of telecom products, pricing, billing systems, and market dynamics.
• Proven experience in stakeholder management and commercial negotiations.
