Humanitarian Services Program Specialist

About the role

The Humanitarian Services Program Specialist supports the Welfare and Self‑Reliance Department in delivering humanitarian aid and self‑reliance initiatives across assigned regions. Reporting to the Area Humanitarian Manager in Harare, the role combines project planning, coordination, and operational support to ensure effective implementation of humanitarian projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing humanitarian projects in designated countries/provinces in line with the 5‑year area plan and global Church priorities.
• Coordinate with internal departments, NGOs, local officials, and other partners to manage project logistics, procurement, and execution.
• Prepare project documentation, collect data, and produce reports to maintain transparency and accountability.
• Provide operational support for budgeting, procurement, and compliance under the guidance of the Area Humanitarian Manager.
• Participate in monitoring and evaluation activities, identifying outcomes and areas for improvement.
• Oversee humanitarian construction projects, managing schedules, budgets, permits, contractors, and safety compliance.
• Identify and mitigate project‑specific risks (HSE, environmental, cultural, financial, operational) and support incident response.
• Utilize Church systems and tools for project tracking, communication, and reporting.

Required profile

• Experience in humanitarian project implementation and coordination with diverse stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, procurement processes, and compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with monitoring, evaluation, and reporting standards in humanitarian contexts.
• Strong analytical skills to assess risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Capacity to work under direction, prioritize tasks, and address moderately complex problems using established procedures.
