Head of Academic Quality Assurance

About the role

The Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) is seeking a Head of Academic Quality Assurance who will report to the Vice-Chancellor. The role leads, promotes and facilitates the development, implementation and monitoring of quality assurance systems across the university, in line with international standards of scholarship and a modern business culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop or review academic quality assurance policies, strategies, procedures and rules, approved by Council through the Senate.
• Shape the quality management and academic regulatory frameworks to uphold academic standards and the quality of the student experience.
• Ensure compliance with quality management processes across schools, departments, centres, directorates, institutes and other units.
• Maintain and work with quality assurance instruments and frameworks, including those of national and international accreditation and professional bodies.
• Advise academic officers on quality assurance matters.
• Mobilise resources for quality assurance and monitor their use.

Required profile

• Doctorate degree in a relevant field from an institution accredited or recognised under the National Council for Higher Education Act.
• Senior academic status.
• At least 3 years of management experience in an academic institution.

What we offer

• A 3-year performance-based contract, renewable once.
