Driver - EU Delegation to Malawi

About the role

The European Union Delegation to the Republic of Malawi is recruiting a Driver for its Administration Section (Local Agent Group V). The post holder reports to the EU Ambassador and the Head of Administration. The Administration Section has 12 staff members, with occasional atypical hours and possible regular paid overtime; the expected start date is 1 February 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Provide transportation for the Delegation, its staff on official duties and visitors on their missions
• Maintain the vehicle fleet and clean it
• Deliver messages, mail and pouches on time and obtain quotes
• Assist with customs procedures and car registration when required
• Record work in logbooks and report regularly on repairs made to vehicles
• Help with administrative tasks such as monitoring works, photocopying and archiving

Required profile

• Malawi School Leaving Certificate (MSCE)
• Valid driver's licence of Code EB or C
• Extensive experience driving long distances and in difficult road conditions
• Five years of working experience, preferably with international organisations or diplomatic missions
• Experience working in teams and in multicultural environments

Required skills

• Knowledge of basic IT applications (a must)
• Defensive driving certificate and knowledge of mechanics are advantages
• Resilience, initiative, analytical skills and flexibility to support the section with other tasks

What we offer

• Fixed-term contract of 2 years, renewable under reserve of budget and operational considerations
• Base salary depending on experience, typically starting from EUR 496 gross
