Child Protection Specialist – Fixed Term (NO-3) – Lilongwe, Malawi

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Child Protection Specialist (NO‑3) on a fixed‑term basis to lead and strengthen child protection systems in Lilongwe, Malawi. The role will provide strategic and technical guidance to prevent and respond to violence, exploitation, abuse and harmful practices affecting children.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and technical leadership for child protection programmes, including design, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
• Strengthen the social‑service workforce and improve case‑management systems.
• Coordinate with government ministries, development partners and civil‑society organisations to align interventions and mobilise resources.
• Lead policy dialogue, high‑level advocacy and evidence‑generation activities.
• Promote innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building initiatives to enhance programme quality and reach.

Required profile

• Relevant professional experience in child protection, humanitarian or social‑service contexts.
• Proven ability to work with government counterparts, NGOs and international partners.
• Experience in providing technical assistance, programme design and results‑based monitoring.
• Open to Malawian nationals only.
