Child Protection Specialist – Fixed Term (Lilongwe, Malawi)

About the role

The Child Protection Specialist will provide strategic and technical leadership to strengthen child protection systems in Lilongwe, Malawi. Reporting to the Chief Child Protection, the role supports the design, implementation, monitoring and reporting of programmes that prevent violence, exploitation and harmful practices against children. This is a fixed‑term position open to Malawian nationals only.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the strengthening of the social service workforce and the case‑management system.
• Coordinate with government agencies, development partners and civil society to align programmes, mobilise resources and facilitate joint planning.
• Provide approximately two hours per month of technical assistance to partners for prevention and response activities.
• Support policy dialogue, high‑level advocacy and the formulation of child‑protection strategies.
• Oversee evidence generation, knowledge management and capacity‑building initiatives.
• Monitor programme performance, ensure quality and efficiency, and produce regular progress reports.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in social work, child protection, public health, law or a related field.
• Demonstrated commitment to child rights and protection.
