Business Systems Analyst & Project Management Consultant (Contract)

About the role

The University of Malawi seeks a Business Systems Analyst and Project Management Consultant on a flexible, time‑based contract. The incumbent will translate business requirements into technical specifications, lead solution implementation, and ensure projects meet objectives within budget and schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Gather, analyse and document user requirements, business processes and opportunities for automation.
• Lead end‑to‑end solution development and implementation, managing project plans, timelines and resources.
• Configure, deploy and perform quality assurance on systems, troubleshooting issues during rollout.
• Act as liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, communicating status, risks and requirements.
• Provide training, mentorship and documentation such as user stories and process maps.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT, Business or related field.
• Proven experience as a business analyst and/or project manager within the MaHIS ecosystem.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Ability to work independently in a 50 % contract environment.
