Agribusiness Extension Manager

About the role

The Agribusiness Extension Manager will work on‑site in Kandeu, Ntcheu, supporting farms and agribusiness clients to optimise water use and boost agricultural productivity. This contract position bridges water supply services with sustainable farming practices, helping to improve livelihoods and food security in rural Malawi.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance on sustainable irrigation and water‑use efficiency.
• Conduct regular field visits, train farmers and agribusiness staff, and organise extension activities.
• Monitor farm performance, track key indicators, and identify improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to align water services with agricultural needs.
• Prepare reports, recommendations, and contribute to project planning and implementation.
• Engage with local partners, community leaders, and stakeholders to promote best practices.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of agriculture and hands‑on experience with farms and agribusiness operations.
• Demonstrated expertise in irrigation planning, water‑use efficiency, and on‑farm water management.
• Experience in farm management, including production planning, resource allocation, and record keeping.
• Practical experience with poultry production, husbandry, and basic enterprise management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Extension, or a related field.
• Proven ability in community outreach, farmer training, and participatory extension methods.
• Ability to analyse farm data, produce clear reports, and communicate recommendations effectively.
