Technical Advisor II, Land and Watershed Restoration

About the role

You will provide hands‑on technical advice, guidance, and support for watershed and land restoration programs in Malawi and Lesotho, ensuring alignment with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) quality standards, donor requirements, and industry best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement agency‑wide strategies, standards, tools, and best practices for watershed and land restoration.
• Integrate gender, protection, and disaster‑risk‑reduction considerations into program design.
• Provide technical solutions remotely and on‑site for strategic planning, program design, and implementation.
• Lead or contribute to technical design of large or complex proposals, including monitoring systems and indicators.
• Advise project teams on donor strategies, priorities, and technical requirements.
• Strengthen capacity of staff and partners through training, workshops, mentoring, and coaching.
• Collect, analyse, and share program data, evaluate projects, and document lessons learned.
• Establish and maintain relationships with government agencies, donors, peer organisations, and research institutions.
• Represent CRS in forums on watershed restoration, agriculture, land restoration, climate change, and systems approaches.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in hydrology, natural resource management, agroforestry, agronomy, environmental science or a related field.
• Minimum eight years of relevant international experience in watershed or land restoration.
• Proven ability to work across sectors and with diverse stakeholders.
