Technical Advisor I – Productive Alliances

About the role

The Technical Advisor I – Productive Alliances will provide expert technical advice and support to country program teams, helping design and implement productive alliances between producer organisations, private‑sector actors and financial institutions. The role focuses on strengthening organisational capacity, improving market linkages and promoting inclusive, sustainable livelihoods for poor and vulnerable communities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies, standards, tools and best practices for productive alliances, integrating gender, youth inclusion and resilience.
• Provide technical assistance to country teams and partners on designing inclusive outgrower schemes and contract‑farming arrangements, both remotely and in the field.
• Contribute to proposal development, embedding productive‑alliance models, value‑chain financing and market‑systems approaches.
• Strengthen capacity of staff, partners and producer organisations through training curricula, workshops and coaching on partnership development, negotiation, contract management and business planning.
• Facilitate commercial linkages by supporting agreements between producers and buyers, improving quality standards, aggregation systems and value‑addition processes.
• Assist producer organisations in accessing finance by preparing bankable business plans and linking them with financial institutions and blended‑finance mechanisms.
• Collect and analyse programme and market data to assess alliance performance, document lessons learned and promote best practices for scaling.
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with governments, private sector, donors and research institutions while ensuring compliance and quality assurance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in project design, proposal development and technical assistance for agricultural value‑chain initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of capacity‑strengthening methodologies, monitoring, evaluation and data analysis.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders across multiple countries.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience using web‑conferencing applications.
• Familiarity with information and budget management systems.
